Srushti Sahajeevan Foundation is an action front that is committed to promoting organic architecture & eco-friendly design, with projects & training activities to nurture a community of practicing architects. The Foundation is a registered Indian Trust and is the fountainhead of all our activities, values, aspirations and objectives

Srushti Sahajeevan Foundation is an entity that transcends the confines of drawing boards, construction sites and conventional architectural idioms to delve into the larger concerns of the role of architecture and construction vis-à-vis the environment and sustainable development. As the words imply – we are concerned with creating living spaces that co-exist harmoniously with the environment.

Core philosophy

At SRUSHTI, we work with the conviction that the environment is the source of a project’s poetic sense. We proceed with the understanding that each site is unique in terms of the intrinsic character and are conscious of the challenge as architects to capture the essence of that character and translate its spirit into architectural poetry.

Sustainable or green design and construction is the opportunity to use our resources more efficiently while creating healthier and more energy-efficient homes. Although there is no magic formula, success comes in the form a leaving a lighter footprint on the environment through conservation of resources, while at the same time balancing energy-efficient, cost-effective and low-maintenance products for our construction needs.

Green construction is a way for the building industry to move towards achieving sustainable development, taking into account environmental, socio-economic and cultural issues. Specifically, it involves issues such as design and management of buildings, materials and building performance, energy and resource consumption - within the larger orbit of urban development and management. The key need here is to look at appropriate tools and concepts for the design and assessment of the sustainability impacts of materials, components and technologies used in buildings and their construction. We need to develop a better understanding of the appropriateness of technologies that is used in buildings and for construction, including indigenous materials and technologies currently being used.

Understandably, our thrust on advocating green construction is to:

Improve the quality of life in harmony with the ecology
Safeguard the environment
Conserve energy, resources and recycle materials
Reduce the creation of hazardous wastes
Use eco-friendly building materials that provide greater indoor air quality and less    harmful emissions

As the repository of a vast knowledge base from several years in the business, Srushti Sahajeevan Foundation is committed to advancing the ideas and principles of organic architecture, green construction, and conservation of the natural environment.
